This a really short book and it ends rather abruptly. That's why it only gets 4 stars instead of 5. The book raises some intriguing questions regarding Christians and gambling but they are not fully explored due to the length time the book. The story follows a group of church members who form a lottery pool and how they handle things after a fairly big win. It looks like there may be a part two coming and I think it would be worth a read based on this book.Product details

Enjoyable enough most interesting part the four pastors conversation, ended at a weird place for me, pulled at my peek of interest got me there and dropped me (book ended)😃
I thought the book was amazing. It made me think about what I would or wouldn't do if God gave me an financial opportunity. I thought it was right for them to still include their friend who lost their job and missed a monthly payment. I would have done the same thing. This book also helped me to not only give to others but teach others how to change their behavior/mindset so that they can better manage.
It was quite interesting to read the different views of the winners and the pastors. Also the legal and anonymous perspective in winning the lottery. Not only was this an enjoyable read but also made me think what is my position as a child of God and the lottery?
This was a great book . Very eye opening and thought provoking. My Pastor does not want the members to gamble, but has stated that they will not hesitate to accept the funds as a blessing to the church. Just saying! When will the next book be coming by this author Can't wait.
I read this in two settings.. I enjoyed reading it. I was a little confused at first, but after getting into it it made sense. I like the way the couple's used the money to bless others through various forms of tithing. God poured out blessings through the happiness of others.
Wow! I read this book once and loved it. I read it again non-stop until I finished and it blessed me even more than the first time. I know this is suppose to be a fiction book, however it is reality. It is teaching us the Word of God in an intriguing manner by showing us how we really are as Christians. Tithing, prayer, giving, sharing, debt--all have their own roles in this book. Marriage, singleness, peers,families, ministers, pastors--we have seen all types as described in this book. So we must take it seriously enough to change our ways of thinking and doing according to God's will and our focus being on Him to make the right decisions in life. I can't thank you enough, Shalonda for the revelations that I received reading this book. God bless you for your faithfulness and obedience to His leading.
How fun was THIS book? I truly enjoyed reading Author Shalonda McFarland's first fiction novella! "The Win" is for any and everyone who 1. Finds relationships with others imperative to one's growth; 2. Enjoys reading; and 3. Desires a closer relationship with our Heavenly Father. I couldn't put this book down! I read it from cover to cover in one sitting. The five different families' lives will keep you entertained - that's for sure. Money is the central theme, and there are lessons to be learned here. Thank you for the lessons and laughter, Shalonda! GREAT storytelling from start to finish!
